Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Alexandra Stewart is a poet and writer who pursued her MFA in Creative Writing at UWI St Augustine and graduated with High Commendation.
A history maker in the First Citizens National Poetry Slam, Alexandra Stewart is the only three time Champion and the only person to win the competition consecutively. She is winner of the NGC Bocas Youth Writer Award 2023 and works relentlessly to improve her craft.
Focused on reaching hearts, her prose and poems comment on social issues in creative and thought provoking ways. Performing both locally and internationally Alexandra's work has global appeal. One of her short stories Post Card Women was commissioned and published by the Caribbean Literary Heritage as part of the collection titled Inspired by the Archives. She has published two poetry chapbooks: Offstage and Seconds.
When Alexandra is not on stage, she's teaching the art of spoken word poetry, English Language and English Literature. Alexandra is always excited to share her expertise. She has been a lead poet in 5 Youth Outreach Secondary School Tours performing for over 60,000 students across the Caribbean.
